SUMMARY The Instructor will instruct and implement the Veterinary Assistant program in an online fashion to educate students per the curriculum standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach online courses by established online instructor guidelines.
  • Lead weekly synchronous instructional sessions.
  • Provide feedback to students on assignments and additional assistance to those having difficulty with course content.
  • Maintain student grades by established policies. Prepare and report final grades at the end of each course.
  • Actively assist with retention efforts by contacting students who are not actively engaged in courses by phone, text, or email.
  • Advise students regarding academic progress and course participation. Respond to student communication within 24 hours and grade all assignments within 48 hours of the due date.
  • Refer students with questions regarding financial aid, transcripts, and other issues to the proper personnel.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education as required.
  • Attend regular faculty meetings – synchronously or asynchronously.
  • Remain current with professional trends and advances in technology.

MENTAL TASKS

Communicate.  Read.  Comprehend.  Perform functions from written and oral instructions and from observing others.

PHYSICAL TASKS

Sort, separate, and file documents and forms.  Write.  Requires hearing to normal range. Lift to 20 pounds

METHODS, TECHNIQUES, PROCEDURES

Review appropriate documents, forms, and reports.

EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS

Utilizes office equipment such as telephone, copier, printer, and computer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to indoor classroom, lab, and office environment.  Contact with employees, students, animals, and the public.  Exposure to biohazardous materials such as blood and saliva.

CONTROL SUPERVISION 

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree from an AVMA CVTEA accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Three (3) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience within the veterinary field.
  • Current license, certification, or other credential as required by local, state, and/or federal laws to work in the field for those teaching professional courses.
  • Experience with online instruction preferred, including leading online synchronous sessions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other basic computer/internet applications.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Hiring range $21.57-$26.96 hourly
