Position Summary:
The role will lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts responsible for delivering machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics projects. You will oversee the end-to-end process of discovery, modeling, and deployment in collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as IT and product teams. This role will also focus on developing your team's skills in performing complex quantitative and qualitative analysis to drive improvements in customer experience and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and coach a team of data scientists and analysts, guiding them to deliver high-quality analytical solutions and machine learning models.
- Collaboration & Strategy: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their objectives, define key deliverables, and translate business needs into actionable data science solutions.
- Modeling & Deployment: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models, ensuring they are scalable, accurate, and aligned with business goals.
- Communication: Clearly present analytical insights, findings, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous learning, providing professional development opportunities and keeping the team up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Resource Allocation: Effectively deploy resources to support the discovery, development, and delivery of AI and ML initiatives, collaborating with IT and other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- PhD preferred.
- MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, or optimization in an industry or research setting.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring teams, with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Hands-on experience in managing hybrid teams through all stages of data science project development, from exploration to deployment.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Intermediate project management experience, with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, or similar analytic tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and balance technical depth with business acumen.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex analyses and technical concepts in simple, non-technical terms.
