The Kingston General Hospital site is an acute-care teaching hospital affiliated with Queen's University located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Along with the Hotel Dieu Hospital site, these hospitals form Kingston Health Sciences Centre which delivers health care services to more than 500,000 residents throughout southeastern Ontario; conducts health care research and trains future health care professionals.

Position: Healthcare Security Guard Ambassador-Full-Time- KGH
Site: Kingston General Hospital (KGH) - 76 Stuart St.
Hours: Monday- Friday - 0600-1400/1400-2200
Averaging Agreement: Employment Standards Act (ESA) after 40 hours
Payrate: $22.61/hour

Internal Start Date: March 12, 2025
Internal Closing Date: March 19, 2025
External Closing Date: April 30, 2025  
 Job Responsibilities:
 • Present a smart, visible, and alert security presence
 • Greet, assist, and direct members of the public visiting the premises
 • Ensure the safety & security of clients, buildings, and assets
 • Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
 • Carry out all security duties as specified (including, but not limited to):
 o Proactive/reactive interior & exterior patrols
 o Response & assistance in emergency situations
 o Documenting & reporting of any/all security events on shift
 o Investigate routine incidents
 o Patient watches
 o Parking & smoking by-law enforcement
 o Hospital policy awareness & enforcement
 o Access control/key control
 o Monthly safety inspections
 o Additional duties as assigned

 Job Requirements:
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C Certificate (from a WSIB-approved provider)
• Ability to be clean shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test
• Proof of COVID-19 Vaccine (minimum double vaccination)
• A copy of your immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)
• How To
• Immunization Record Form
o Completed immunization for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella are required at the time of hire. Applicants who are not immunized or are otherwise unable to provide their MMR immunity at the time of hire will not be deemed eligible for the position.
• Ability to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check (during onboarding)
• Minimum 6 months healthcare security experience preferred
• Minimum 6 months of non-healthcare security experience preferred
• Must be able to commit to full-time availability for no less than 6 months
• English proficiency (oral & written) is required
• Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
• 6+ months of customer service experience is considered an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Stay Safe
o Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's Stay Safe certification program prior to their onboarding certification to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
