Job Summary:
This position will work Monday through Friday, August 1 through May 31, with occasional evening sessions to meet student needs. This position will provide tutoring on requested content in nursing or paramedicine classes, evaluate the progress and facilitate the student's ongoing progress through their requirements, and preparation for licensure exams.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist in developing and implementing Nurse Science and Paramedicine student retention and graduation strategies to include follow ups and check ins.
a) Provide Nursing and Paramedicine students with subject matter tutoring and assistance with challenging concepts including nursing, paramedicine, anatomy, physiology, and chemistry.
2. Maintain a working knowledge and expertise of computer software systems that are utilized in classes.
3. Utilizes data to track tutoring, guide interventions and monitors effectiveness and student progress.
4. Design individualized and group tutoring sessions to assist students.
5. Coordinate with instructors to have up to date resources, such as books, syllabi, software, etc.
6. Develop a flow of communication to keep up with the latest requirements and techniques.
7. Gather feedback for instructors about topics needing frequent tutoring.
8. Providing feedback to the dean, nurse science program director, and paramedicine program director regarding issues or success stories.
9. Document on-going student contact logs via computerized database.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Experience:
- 1-2 years of healthcare teaching/tutoring experience.
- At least 1 year experience in higher education.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

- Must be dependable, responsible, and prompt.
- High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
- Ability to build working relationships with students to better serve their academic needs.
- Knowledge of tutoring techniques and strategies.
- Working knowledge of dosage calculations, human anatomy or physiology, and other disciplines from nursing and paramedicine.
- Ability to problem solve and coordinate tutoring sessions.
- Ability to track information on each student session.
- Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Newsletter design software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to gather data, analyze it, and generate attendance reports for retention demonstration.
Understanding of study skill strategies, including notetaking, time management, test-taking tips, textbook reading instruction, memory techniques, etc. - Ability to work remotely via Zoom, Skype, and through other online platforms.
- Knowledge of retention and graduation best practices.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- High degree of integrity; ability to work in a sensitive, highly confidential and professional environment.
- Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Preferred Qualifications.
- Master's degree in Nursing.
- Nationally registered paramedic
- Basic understanding of Banner, Canvas, and Degree works.
- Experience teaching and/or tutoring in a college educational environment.
- Formal training in curriculum development, teaching techniques, tutoring methods, and documentation practices.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
- Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
- Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
- Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
