  • Oncology Nurse Navigator

  • 3 weeks of orientation
  • This role ushers in new patients to our program, helping ensure patient understand why they have been referred, clarifying next steps, and preparing them to be an engaged partner with our clinical teams.
  • Experience in solid tumor oncology will be quite helpful, ideally both solid tumor and hematological malignancies.
  • Ideal is prior experience in a care coordination role in oncology or in triage if they don't have pure coordination.
  • M-F 0800-1630

  • You will engage with patients over the phone before their first consult with the oncology specialty physician and in clinic at their first appointment.

  • Support new oncology patients and ease their anxiety in preparation for their first appointment:
  • You will call patients before the first oncology appointment and may meet them in clinic at the appointment.
  • Specifically you will engage with patients to:
  • - Prepare patients for the first consult
  • - Coordinate multi-disciplinary appointments as needed
  • - Outline anticipated next steps for the patient and family
  • - Identify and address barriers to care
  • - Support them through initial transitions of care
    Job Requirements
  • Three years of related clinical experience in an adult or pediatric oncology
  • Demonstrated professionalism
  • Excellent communication and reflection skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively on a team
  • The ability to provide and receive feedback and delegate
  • The ability to prioritize and adapt in stressful situations
  • Unencumbered Oregon State Board of Nursing RN license
  • External candidates: bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Recent ambulatory care oncology experience in care coordination is preferred
  • Internal candidates: Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred
  • Certified in oncology (Oncology Certified Nurse – OCN) is preferred
  • Experience with leadership, projects, or participation in shared governance is preferred
    Schedule Information
  • Shifts are 5x8 hours, from 0800 to 1630
  • The scheduling pattern is Monday through Friday
