Summary of Position

NRECA's Education, Training & Events team designs, delivers, and facilitates high-impact learning experiences and events—both online and in person--that empower cooperative leaders and staff to guide their organizations and communities into the future. The portfolio includes certification programs, a robust education curriculum of 100+ courses, leadership development programs, a trade show, thought leadership events and multi-day conferences.

We are looking for a responsible person multi-level support for the design, development, and delivery to Meeting & Event Planning, Education, Training & Events programs. Collaborates with MEP team on event logistics, contracts, budget, etc. Provides recommendations on event sites and other special projects as assigned. Ensures all deadlines for meetings, events and/or projects meet time expectations and budget targets. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Under direct guidance, plans, administers and executes a variety of events and meetings in accordance to established NRECA policies and practices.
  • Researches and recommends dates, locations, and venues for assigned NRECA-sponsored conferences, meetings, and programs.
  • Contributes to negotiating and securing contracts in accordance with NRECA's policies and practices. Identifies housing needs established with NRECA departments and manages room block allocation with hotels.  Works with venues to identify meeting rooms and function space requirements, ensure audio-visual requirements are secured and complement NRECA event objectives.
  • Assists in analyzing the financial performance of events and recommends changes to ensure cost-effectiveness based on variance analysis.
  • Oversees reconciliation and coding of invoices to ensure proper accounts / sub-accounts for approval.
  • Assists with process improvements by assessing policies and procedures for the planning and operation of events.
  • Maintains and updates various reports for Meeting & Event Planning Department.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications or related field required.
  • Ability to perform and work on multiple tasks while being flexible and able to cope with changing conditions/policies/procedures in a fast-paced and sometimes intense working environment, while staying productive and maintaining high standards for the work product.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing in a clear and precise manner.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job-related equipment.
  • Ability to report to the office as required.
  • Ability to travel within the United States for on-site events (10-20%).


Experience Required:
1 or more years of related experience preferred.

Essential Physical Requirements:

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
