    Certification Details
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • MUST Pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
    Job Details
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Years required.
  • Traveler Experience: unit does NOT accept first time travelers.
  • Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: Yes.
  • Ratios: 1:3-6, Flex based on patient populations (PCU-M/S).
  • This position will take MS up to PCU depending on needs.
  • Shift: 36 or 48 hours accepted. If 48, then no OT billed until after 48 hours; 13-26 weeks accepted.
  • RTO: No RTO for 7/14-7/27.
  • Weekend Requirement: EVERY OTHER WEEKEND.
  • Patient Diagnoses: Caring for patients across the inpatient spectrum from medical surgical, cardiac, progressive care/step down, and stroke.
  • Special Procedures / Unit Details: FLOAT POOL UNIT
  • Skills: Telemetry, Vents.
  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours
  • Interview Availability: Manager will not offer without speaking to the candidate first.
    Job Requirements
  • Certs: ACLS, BCLS, NIH
  • EKG Testing required before start for this specialty.
    Schedule Information
  • Based on scheduling gaps
  • Float Requirement: Yes, will work with the CNRO (Centralized Resource Nursing Pool).
  • Majority of shifts will be at the main campus but can also be scheduled at New Hanover Orthopedic Hospital and Pender Memorial Hospital.
  • Staff are notified 2 hours before the start of the shift.
  • Candidates will float all medical/Surgical floors, PCU's, Cardiac floors, Rehab, BHH, PACU, and our inpatient holding space for ED.
  • Candidates will not float to the ICUs unless taking a stepdown or modified assignment with an ICU RN as primary.

    Additional Details
  • Contract staff may be required to care for patients with COVID.
  • During times of increased census typical ratios may be higher.
  • Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team.
  • Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty or disaster.
  • Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid contract may occur and the contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.
