The Department of Family Medicine at Peconic Bay Medical Center is seeking a visionary physician leader for the Chair position.
Responsibilities and tasks of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the departmental aspect of strategic planning and programmatic growth with a focus on quality of the clinical and educational programs
- Leading the development and enhancement of departmental clinical and educational activities, in accordance with the facility's mission and vision
- Supervising all professional activities and clinical staff within the Department and within subspecialty divisions of the Department
- The Chair of Family Medicine will report directly to the Hospital's Medical Director while collaborating closely with the Family Medicine Service Line
- Managing staff including appointing departmental members to committees, establishing and coordinating faculty and staff development, periodically evaluating faculty and staff as well as all faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions according to Hospital Medical Staff By-Laws
- Support and collaborate with the leadership, staff, and trainees of the Family Medicine Residency Program
- Ensuring professional performance of all practitioners with clinical privileges in the Department
- Collaborating with administrative and nursing leadership to build a team-based clinical environment
- Developing policies, procedures and practices for the Department that ensure the provision of high-quality patient care

About Peconic Bay Medical CenterFounded in 1951 as Central Suffolk Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center is the largest hospital in Eastern Suffolk County, and the Eastern Hub of Northwell Health, the largest healthcare organization in New York State. As a non-for-profit 144-bed community hospital, we serve as the primary resource for advanced healthcare services for the 250,000+ residents of the Riverhead area, Eastern Central Suffolk County, and Long Island's North Fork. We provide our service area's only Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Suite, Level III Trauma Center, and NYUS-Designated Stroke Center.
Candidate Qualifications
- D. Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine
- Completion of residency with Board Certification
- Currently licensed as a physician in the State of New York
- Outstanding organizational, communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with all staff
- Previous division, department, or GME leadership experience highly preferred

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
