Description
The Point of Care Coordinator reports directly to the Laboratory Director and the Medical Director or designee. This individual maintains a current knowledge of federal and state laboratory laws and regulations. S/he develops, participates in and oversees the Quality Management activities required by the clinical laboratories at NorthBay MedicalCenter and VacaValley Hospital. These activities include performance improvement, safety, and accreditation readiness. The required quality activities include responsibility for laboratory and point of care procedures, record retention and documentation in order to meet the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. This position will also ensure the laboratory is following hospital safety rules and regulations by overseeing the laboratory safety program and as a liaison to the hospital safety program.

Must be able to use critical thinking skills, make independent judgment based on knowledge of laboratory medicine and disease processes while also working as an effective member of a team. Qualifications
Education: B.S. degree and graduation from an approved school of medical technology. Master degree and quality certification preferred.
Licensure: State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License. ASCP or equivalent desired. Meets state and federal requirements for supervising the performance of high complexity laboratory testing as outlined in CLIA 88 and the State Title for Laboratories.
Experience: Six years as a registered technologist in an acute care hospital desired. Quality experience preferred. Demonstrates supervisory and leadership skills.
Skills: Demonstrates initiative, follow through and ability to work independently. Demonstrates effective project management skills and a results-oriented management style. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Must have basic medical terminology, typing, math and excellent computer skills. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication with patients, co-workers and all hospital staff. Demonstrates professional and courteous guest and client skills and the NorthBay Way. Hours of Work: 8 hour day shift with occasional off-shift staff interaction. Flexibility to occasionally work some hours on evenings, nights, and weekends for the specific purpose of staff education and training as scheduled.
Compensation: $73.95- $89.88 per hour (Base on years of experience)
$5.58 per hour Evening Differential
$11:20 per hour Night Differential
$1.40 per hour Weekend Differential
