JOB SUMMARY

At NorthBay Healthcare the Works under the Environmental Services Supervisor reports to the Environmental Services Director and is responsible for the daily operations of the department including the scheduling of personnel, evaluating their performance, quality of work, productivity and maintaining a positive work environment for the staff.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  1. Provides foundational and ongoing training for all EVS employees in every department Task Schedule.
  2. Insures quality performance by auditing the standard work performance of assigned employees in accordance with the department Quality Assurance and Inspection standard work.
  3. Routinely rounds with leaders in areas of assigned oversight developing strong communication and a reputation of response and follow up to concerns shared and observations of opportunities for improvement.
  4. Responsible for insuring hospital and department standard work and NorthBay facility policies are adhered to by EVS staff.
  5. Assures that adequate staffing for the department is maintained through the consistent and accurate use of tools such as a Days On/Off Roster, Kronos time management software, progressive discipline, and call-off logs.
  6. Oversees and audits compliance with department supply and equipment ordering and inventory management standard work.
  7. Adjust staffing assignments to ensure all Task Schedules on the department Master Schedule are staffed appropriately.
  8. Assures that all concerns or requests from nursing units and departments are promptly and satisfactorily addressed and follow up is communicated to all relevant leaders.
  9. Communicates pertinent information, problems and unresolved issues to Director both verbally and via required department documentation.
  10. Represents the EVS department with internal and external customers for department Manager in his/her absence.
  11. Is able to provide prompt, courteous and satisfying service recovery with patients and visitors when concerns or complaints are received.
  12. Actively attends and participates in department related seminars, workshops, committees and continuing education meetings as assigned.
  13. Prepares for and leads or assists department Director in facilitating department huddles and staff meetings.


Qualifications

Education:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:   

  1. Minimum two (2) years of experience in industrial janitorial industry preferred. 
  2. Cleaning rooms, floors, halls, etc. in the healthcare or the hotel/resort industry strongly desired. 
  3. Experience with cleaning procedures and use of janitorial equipment for cleaning patient rooms, exam rooms, restrooms, general public spaces and floors, in a healthcare environment strongly desired.

Skills: 

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, peers, and colleagues. 
  2. Able to follow, model, teach and evaluate compliance with complex instructions involving task lists and duties covering an eight (8) hour work period.  
  3. The ability to learn, retain, teach and reinforce department and facility standard work involving response to disaster and occurrences such as fire, earthquake, storm, flood, disaster, etc. as part of the active team of employees within the facility that assures continuation of required services and functions.

 Compensation: 

•    Hourly Salary Range Min $29.29 - Max $32.30 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
•    Evening Shift Hourly Differential:  $2.70
•    Night Shift Hourly Differential: $4.20
•    Weekend Hourly Differential: $0.75
