Primary Purpose
Supervises the installation of all signal and crossing construction projects to include the in-service testing of all crossing projects. Ensuring that plans, schedules, personnel, Construction equipment and project material are properly and efficiently utilized.
Principal Duties
- Directs, through company employed and contracted work force, the safe and efficient installation of signal equipment, including those for the wayside signal system as well as grade crossing warning systems.
- Controls labor and material expenditures, ensuring that charges being made are complete and accurate to permit adherence to AFE authorizations, and to permit accurate billings made to outside parties.
- Provides instruction and compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, including regulations of the Federal railroad Administration, Federal Highway Administration, and the Department of Transportation.
- Ensures compliance with company and departmental safety rules through an organized safety program on the territory. Monitors the actions of subordinates in regards to safety, ensuring safety of tools, and equipment being used, and provide training and enforcement as necessary.
- Handles the testing of the signal system for new and modified grade crossing installations. This includes the writing of complete and accurate test sheets and their successful execution to ensure that installations comply with company and FRA standards, rules, and regulations.
- Ensures complete and accurate documentation is made of completed installations in accordance with company and FRA standards, rules, and regulations. This includes print revisions, as well as records of applicable FRA tests recorded in STAMP and software revision levels and CRC checksum values recorded in SMS.
