Primary Purpose

The Senior FP&A Analyst is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing operating expenses. Additionally, the position will provide high-level financial analysis to management utilizing data provided by business partners and the FP&A Analyst.

 

Principal Duties

  • Builds a strong working relationship with business partners in support of the operating expense budgets and forecasts.
  • Evaluates trends and provides recommendations to business partners to improve financial forecasts.
  • Creates variance analysis reports with commentary and financial models for management.
  • Demonstrates leadership by acting as coach and mentor to FP&A Analysts.
  • Fosters a team-oriented environment and strives for continuous improvement regarding department/company processes.
  • Possesses knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis techniques and railroad operations.

Qualifications & Skills

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum Level: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Level: Master's Degree or MBA
  • Preferred Majors: Accounting, Finance, Business

 

Experience

  • Minimum Level: 2-4 years
  • Preferred Level:  5-7 years

 

Technical Skills:

  • SAP
  • Advanced MS Excel/Spreadsheets
  • MS Powerpoint/Presentations
  • MS Outlook
  • MS Word/Word Processing
