Primary Purpose

As an intern in the legal operations section of the law department, you will work closely with a seasoned legal operations team. Legal operations collaborate with stakeholders across the law department and organization to develop actionable plans that bridge the gap between law and business. The team transforms ideas, data, and strategies into tangible outcomes while aligning efforts with corporate goals. This is accomplished through strategic planning, financial planning, technology, process improvement, cost containment, and analytics. This role reports to the Senior Director, Head of Legal Operations.

Responsibilities

Your assignments will include but are not limited to assisting with the following:

 

  • Managing legal technology tools 
  • Law ebilling and matter management
  • Finance and accounting shadowing
  • Managing Discovery and e-discovery processes
  • Developing and maintaining departmental process manuals 
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Gaining insights into the railroad industry through training

 

Education
  • Enrolled in MBA Program. 
  • Masters enrolled during the months of May 2025 through August 2025.  
  • Degree Concentration: (General Business) Business Administration, Strategic Management, Business Communications, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Finance & Accounting, Information Governance.

 

Skills Preferred
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite 
  • MS SharePoint and/or MS Project 
  • Power BI or Tableau

⦁    A motivated self-starter committed to learning Legal Operations and Law department structure and procedures.
⦁    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
⦁    Willingness to study reference materials, ask questions and resolve problems.
