Job Description

Handles the appeals of claims and grievances and defends management's position in disputes involving interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements for the crafts that fall under the jurisdiction of the position.

Principal Duties:

  • Prepares arbitration briefs and acts as oral advocate for managements position in front of arbitrators.
  • Prepares summary analysis and recommendations in discipline cases.
  • Conducts research on labor agreements and prior National Railroad Adjustment Board decisions.
  • Provides advice and counsel to line supervisors.
  • Presents Carrier's position in arbitration cases.
  • Interacts with general chairmen and handles claim conferences.

Job Related Experience:

Minimum Level: 1-2 years Preferred Level: 3-5 years

Education:

Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Majors: Labor Relations, Political Science, Business, Law, Industrial Relations, Personnel Management, Human Resources, or Organizational Leadership.

Licenses / Certifications: Required: None listed Preferred: None listed
