Primary Purpose:
Investigates, evaluates and settles casualty matters brought against Norfolk Southern for incidents involvingproperty damage, personal injury, or death arising from company operations.
 

Principal Duties:

  • Investigates and preserves relevant facts concerning claims against or by Norfolk Southern for death orinjury to persons, or damage to property, arising out of company activities within assigned territory.
  • Evaluates, controls, and negotiates fair and reasonable settlements of claims and lawsuits as may beassigned to incumbent.
  • Assists trial counsel in defending the Company's interests in the event of litigation.
  • Outdoor/field work consisti ng of physical tasks including but not limited to mounti ng/dismounti ng equipmentand walking long distances on uneven surfaces.

 

Job Related Experience:

  • Minimum Level:
    • Completion of training program, relevant fi eld operation experience, or prior claims experience

Education:

  • Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree
