Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Expert

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are seeking a talented and experienced Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Expert to join our team.

Job Overview:

The LCA Expert will be responsible for conducting comprehensive life cycle assessments of our products, processes, and operations, utilizing the expertise to quantify and analyze the environmental impacts associated with each stage of a product's life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal. The successful candidate will provide valuable insights and recommendations to support our sustainability initiatives and drive continuous improvement across our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) for various products, processes, and operations using industry-standard methodologies (e.g., ISO 14040/14044).
  • Collect and analyze data related to energy consumption, resource use, emissions, and waste generation throughout the life cycle of products.
  • Identify and assess environmental hotspots, critical impact categories, and potential improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and sustainability, to integrate LCA findings into product development and decision-making processes.
  • Communicate LCA results, methodologies, and insights effectively to internal stakeholders, senior management, and external partners.
  • Keep updated of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in LCA and sustainability to continuously enhance our approach and methodologies.
  • Support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies, goals, and initiatives aligned with corporate objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or a related field. PhD would be a differential.
  • Proven experience in conducting life cycle assessments (LCAs) for products, processes, or systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Work experience in manufacturing industry at least 3 years
  • Strong understanding of LCA methodologies, including ISO standards, and proficiency in LCA software (e.g., GaBi, SimaPro, openLCA).
  • Experience in developing Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
  • Solid grasp of environmental science principles, including carbon footprint, water footprint, eco-design, and circular economy concepts
  • Experience with 3rd party validation audits
  • Experience in managing LCA inventory and required documentation
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and drive initiatives forward.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship, with a commitment to driving positive change through innovative solutions.
