Your Specific Responsibilities:

Incumbent is responsible for coordinating and/or attending health education and promotion, outreach activities and community events of the Office of Preventive Services. Reports directly to the Operations & Management Consultant I-SES of the Office of Preventive Services.

Prepares PowerPoint presentations, lectures, interviews and other materials to be distributed in community events and activities at schools, churches, health fairs, conferences and other health related events. Creates and distributes flyers, brochures, and other materials to promote the Preventive Services Program and to educate the community about program services.

Conducts research and prepares or obtains fact sheets and other educational materials for the public regarding the prevention of communicable diseases in English and coordinates the translations into Spanish and Creole.

Attends health fairs and other community events to deliver health education. Conducts group presentations as well as one on one education. Participates in media (television/radio) interviews to promote program services. Coordinates with community agencies, corporations, schools and other agencies and groups to assist with health promotion and disease prevention efforts.

Incumbent is responsible for the distribution and recollection of customer satisfaction surveys and is part of the Information and Education Advisory Committee. Keeps track of all outreach efforts and records activities within appropriate logs. Maintains activity calendar up-to date. Maintains data ready for reporting purposes and generates reports as necessary. Prepares a quarterly newsletter regarding program activities and Preventive Services topics for Department of Health, County Health Department and community partners.

Assists the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program in recruiting eligible clients and registering them for the program. Performs a variety of outreach activities for the Family Planning, Prenatal clinic and Dental Programs to recruit eligible clients, promotes program services and makes client appointments. Maintains logs for tracking purposes.

Attends staff meetings, trainings, in-service programs, conferences and workshops to ensure professional growth. Attends at least twenty-five education/outreach activities (health fairs, workshops, presentations) each year. Actively participates in assigned workgroups and committees representing the program or the agency.

Performs other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Knowledge and proficiency with computers and various computer programs.

+ Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

+ Ability to utilize computer systems-Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel.

+ Ability to use LCD projector for presentations.

+ Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.

+ Ability to interview clients.

+ Ability to record and evaluate data relating to assistance for health care or community services.

+ Ability to follow instructions.

+ Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

+ Ability to keep accurate records.

+ Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.

+ Skill in public speaking and conducting presentations.

Qualifications:

Experience in public speaking, valid driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle to perform job related duties.

Preferred - Incumbent in this position is preferred to be bilingual in English and Spanish.
