FTE: 1.0, Shift: Full Time, Schedule: 09:30-18:00, occasional weekend, and holiday rotation.


Position Summary

The Unit Care Assistant is responsible for secretarial and patient care duties necessary for a smooth
running unit. Collaborate to provide optimal plan of case based on age/diagnosis specific needs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Handles clerical duties on nursing unit; including answering telephone, relaying messages, keeping
records, directing visitors, distributing mail, and transcribing physicians' orders
2. Ensures documentation and problem solving begins immediately when breakdown in patient safety
occurs.
3. Demonstrates Memorial's expectations for customer service.
4. Keeps RN and Shift Coordinator informed of pertinent information in a timely manner.
5. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
6. Demonstrates advocacy for patient/family.
7. Processes Physician/Practitioner orders in an accurate and timely fashion.
8. Collaborates with all staff in the transfer/discharge of patients.
9. Demonstrates inter/intradepartmental teamwork.
10. Accurately monitors unit records (staffing records, kardex, refrigerator/crash cart check lists etc.) as
assigned.
11. Demonstrates flexibility in the unit secretary role.
12. Knows roles and responsibilities during all Emergency Codes and Red Rules.
13. Collects and reports pertinent objective and subjective data regarding health status of patient/client
including biological/psychological/social/emotional/spiritual determinants of health.
14. Collaborates to provide nursing care: preventive, supportive, restorative.
15. Collaborates in the revision and effectiveness of plan of care to achieved desired results.
16. Documents accurately and legibly, per policy and procedure, on essential documents.
17. Participates in hourly rounding.
18. Ensures documentation and problem solving begins immediately when breakdown in patient safety
occurs; i.e. reports to appropriate personnel and generates electronic Quantros report or appropriate
form.
19. Consistently involves patient and family in plan of care as well as response to plan of care.
20. Demonstrates personal awareness of own values, beliefs and the influence of ability to advocate for
patient and family.
21. Participates in evaluating plan, process of care; modifies plan as appropriate under the direction of RN.
22. Consistently demonstrates flexibility in own role in patient assignment.
23. Participates in discharge planning beginning at admission.
24. Performs direct and indirect patient care activities according to established policies and procedures,
observes and reports changes in patient conditions and maintains a safe and clean patient and
environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited NAC program
required.
Experience: Previous acute care experience preferred. Previous medical office experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Nursing Assistant Certification. American
Heart Association BLS required.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $21.30 - $29.22 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
