    Job Details
  • The practice of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse involves tasks and responsibilities within the scope of supportive and restorative care.
  • Tasks include medication administration and specialized tasks under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse or licensed physician or dentist.
  • Delivers nursing care in structured and routine situations free of scientific complexity.
  • Involvement in preparation of patient for surgery, diagnostic tests, treatments, and examinations.
    Job Requirements
  • Ability to administer treatments and perform routine tasks such as suctioning and urinary catheterizations.
  • Qualified to administer medications within the scope of practice and handle specimen collection and processing accurately.
  • Adept at setting up intravenous equipment and delivering solutions for infusion through peripheral access devices.
  • Can administer blood or blood products with special training.
  • Capable of documenting pertinent observations, treatments, medications, incidents, and accidents associated with patients on the appropriate documents.
  • Efficient in recognizing and executing the unit-based model for the delivery of nursing care and managing assignments delegated by the Registered Professional Nurse.
    Additional Details
  • Assists with activities of daily living.
  • Contributes to nursing care plan in collaboration with other members of the nursing staff.
  • Reinforces the patient/family teaching process as identified by the RN.
  • Provides emotional support to patients and their families/significant others.
  • Assists with the rehabilitation of patients pursuant to the nursing care plan.
  • Ensures the physical comfort and safety of the patient.
  • Participates in patient care conferences.
  • Performs resuscitative procedures such as BCLS and other activities in emergency situations as directed by the team.
