The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan is seeking a board-certified MD or DO to join the department as a full-time specialist in general obstetrics and gynecology. The position will be at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor on the clinical track pending candidate qualifications. Candidates will be expected to practice the full scope of general obstetrics and gynecology. This includes devoting their professional effort to outpatient clinic care in both obstetrics and gynecology, major and minor gynecologic surgery, gynecology night call, and in-patient obstetric care. Gynecology night call entails urgent/emergent surgeries, ER and inpatient consultations. In-patient obstetric care includes but is not limited to: care for laboring patients, vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries, responsiveness to obstetric emergencies, collaboration with other obstetric providers including midwives and family medicine providers, and postpartum care. Additional responsibilities include supervision of advanced practice providers in the outpatient setting, teaching medical students and resident physicians. Participation in clinical quality improvement, education, research and patient safety efforts and initiatives within the department is encouraged. A typical schedule includes 3 full days of clinic per week, 1 labor and delivery shift per week (day or night) and 1 gynecology night or weekend call per month. Obstetrics shifts will be approximately 12 hours in duration and will be a mixture of days, nights, and weekends.

The University of Michigan Birth Center does approximately 5000 deliveries annually and works in a collaborative team model including providers from maternal fetal medicine, ob-gyn specialists, family medicine providers, certified nurse midwives, fellows, residents, and medical students. Obstetric care and NICU care is within the same building one floor away providing efficient, safe, collaborative care for any maternal or neonatal need.
