Description
Overview:
The structural heart scheduler will coordinate all aspects of procedure scheduling. Schedules all appointments for patients and revises/cancels appointments as necessary. Acts as interdepartmental liaison and maintains familiarity with scheduling functions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
As ordered by the physician/NP/RN, accurately and in a timely, friendly manner (within 48 hours) schedule procedures according to guidelines. Also cancel or reschedule procedures upon request from patient, physician, or facility. Provides complete documentation of each scheduled procedure in EPIC. As necessary prepares and or scans additional pertinent information as requested by physician. Obtains medical records from outside hospitals. Provides clear instructions to patients and families regarding upcoming appointments, testing, and procedures. Answer incoming phone calls and assist with any questions patients may have utilizing customer service skills. Obtain pre-certification and/or pre-authorization prior to imaging and procedures. Assists with setting up and monitoring physician CME. Scheduler is responsible for monitoring the referral workque. Coworker will maintain spreadsheets and update monthly volumes.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One year of surgical/medical office experience.
Other: Medical terminology. Computer skills. Telephone etiquette. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
