Overview:
The Surgical/Med-Surg Unit is a 32-bed unit that houses an assortment of patients needing to recover after surgery. Colon resections, hip replacements, urological procedures, and appendectomies are just a few that you will see. We also have Med/Surg overflow so you will likely see pneumonia, COPD, and chest pain.
We have lots of skills that you will be able to develop while working on our unit. JP drains, wound vacs, NGT's, chest tubes are some of the things that you will encounter!
Typically, these patients are here for a short stay and then sent home. Nurses on the unit work 12-hour shifts. We are a fun, friendly, fast-paced unit!
The Clinical Team Leader assists in planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the operations and patient care of designated areas. Serves as clinical resource for staff and patients in the department. Functions as a staff nurse in the department as needed. Assumes managerial duties as delegated by manager. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of a State-approved School of Nursing.
Licensure: Current RN licensure within state of practice or current RN temporary work permit in state of practice.
Certification: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. ACLS and PALS or obtain within 12 months of hire.
Experience: 3 years work experience in a hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's in Nursing.
Certification: Nursing Specialty Certification.
Experience: 5 years working in a hospital setting; prior management
