Overview:
Position performs to process accounts according to the state they are in the Self Pay accounts receivable. The tasks include working with patients accounts to determine resolution to obtain payment. The role is flexible with all the tasks in the department from scanning documents to processing a loan payment. The incumbent will be asked to continuously develop their skills in the department to serve where the volume of processing is needed. It is the role of this position to learn the workflows, policies and procedures to ensure accurate processing, timeliness, and communications in aiding peers, patients, and other departments. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient in coordinating or determining patients financial needs up to and including: Medicaid eligibility, financial assistance, payroll deductions, loan programs, and payment plans as requested or required.
- Provide support for collection or financial initiatives.
- Ensure all education required for the position is current, as well as, staying up on internal processes and policies to ensure accurate education with patients result.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to perform all tasks in a timely manner.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and consistent with established performance goals, in accordance with designed workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Routinely interact and partner with all facility, clinic and billing departments, coworkers, and peers to ensure resolution on patient account issues.
- Performs other work duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous revenue cycle management experience preferred
- Required Education: High School diploma or GED required
- Other: Basic Excel, Word, Computer and Keyboarding Skills. Healthcare billing or insurance experience preferred but not required. Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
