Overview:
Maintains professional accountability and technical support for provision of patient care for the OB patients experience. Under the direction of Nursing and Medical Staff, provide a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support and surgical assistance. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team and recognizes the importance of unit goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient and the success of the unit. May assist in operational support tasks including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, ensuring adequate supplies, phlebotomy, transport of specimens, patient transport, obtain blood glucose, Birth Certificate entry, and other duties as assigned. Support the nursing team and patients by providing supportive care and assistance with ADL's to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, pediatric patients, and others as assigned. Maintains calm and works efficiently and effectively through obstetrical emergencies, as part of the team. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Career Ladder Experience/skills, knowledge, Ability and Competency:Utilizing sterile surgical technique, the OB Associate prepares Operating/Delivery Rooms and the patient for all labor and delivery procedures as assigned, including C-sections.Responsible for maintenance/cleaning of sterile instrumentation, per hospital policy. He/she is an example to other team members and adheres/helps to monitor safety, infection control practices, and efficiency in accordance with departmental and Mercy Hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures and national standards safety to maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers.
Qualifications:
- Experience: High-School Diploma or GED arerequired. Must either have a CNA Certification and/or complete the Mercy UAP training within 90 days of hire. Willing to train the right candidate.
- Certifications: :American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able toperform job-related functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law
