Overview:
Cardiac Telemetry is a critical care unit for patients requiring continuous heart monitoring, including both chronic and acute cardiac and/or medical conditions. The unit's most common types of patients are those with CHF, heart arrhythmias, chest pain, myocardial infarction, post pacemaker insertion, post cardioversion as well as patients who have experienced syncopal episodes, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and electrolyte abnormalities. The unit also cares for patients with chronic conditions such as COPD, CAD, diabetes, hypertension, and those on hemodialysis. Occasionally the unit will monitor pre- and post-surgical patients.
- On-site central monitor station to oversee telemetry rhythms as well monitors at each nurse's station
- 32 bed unit with all private rooms
- RN ratio of 4-5 patients with tech support
- Close working relationship with cardiologist and hospitalists
- Daily Discharge Huddles with our Care Management Team
- Critical Care Fellowship with both in-class and in-department orientation
- Numerous continuing education opportunities
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2 years' experience in patient care is required.
- Preferred Experience: Supervisor experience.
- Required Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
- Other: One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe:
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses)
• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
