Overview:
This position serves as the coding lead for the Coding Supervisor/Manager. Supports the Coding Supervisor/Manager in daily coding activities including productivity monitoring, scheduling, coding edit/charge review, failed claims/follow-up resolution, training, education, research, etc. Works with Coding Supervisor/Manager to ensure that coding meets all regulatory and compliance guidelines. Additionally, the Coding Specialist Lead will be the primarytrainer and mentor for new coders. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 5 years of coding experience in ICD-10-CM diagnoses/procedures coding and/or HCPCS/CPT procedure coding in an acute care or professional services setting.
- Required Education: High school diploma.
- Preferred Experience: 6 or more years of recent coding or consulting experience in inpatient/outpatient acute carehospital setting or professional services.
- Certifications: Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), CertifiedProfessional Coder (CPC), and Certified Radiology Cardiovascular Coding (CIRCC).
