Overview: Senior Geographic Information System Specialist 

 

Hybrid Role: (Mostly work from home remote) with ability to be onsite as needed. (Need to live in either Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, or Oklahoma for travel reasons)

Mercy is seeking a Senior GIS Specialist to work with a team of Analysts, IT professionals, and Software Developers to provide support for the creation, analysis, and management of geospatial data and maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to support strategic planning, decision-making, and research initiatives.

This position will support Mercy's efforts to deliver on the vision of personalized, predictive, and proactive care.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 4+ years in a similar role or Master's + 2 years in a similar role
  • Required Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, geography, computer science, or a related field.
  • Other: Experience preferably in healthcare or related setting. Proficiency with GIS software and tools, including Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, and related applications. Experience with data management and database design principles.Knowledge of spatial analysis techniques and applications. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically about how GIS can support organizational goals.
  • Preffered: Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python) Experience using ArcGIS Indoors and GeoEvent Server. Knowledge of .dwg conversion workflows and integration into GIS systems. Proficiency in creating web maps, dashboards, and web applications. Demonstrated ability to maintain, edit, and publish authoritative datasets within ArcGIS Enterprise with appropriate security controls between staging and production environments.
