Overview:  The Executive Director, Risk Adjustment is a key strategic leader responsible for driving accurate coding, documentation, and risk adjustment activities for Mercy's Medicare Advantage and other lines of business. This role drives performance across multiple regions to achieve operational, clinical, and financial targets through data and analytics. The leader articulates risk adjustment performance and directs a team in risk adjustment initiatives to ensure improved quality care. The leader is accountable for performance and direction through multiple layers of management and senior-level professional staff. This position requires an analytical executive skilled at translating quantitative insights into operational change.

 

 


Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    0+ years in complex data analysis, financial/performance metrics, and data management.

    •    10+ years in a healthcare setting with advanced knowledge in value-based care and managed care/risk adjustment data analytics.

    •    7+ years leading risk adjustment reporting and dashboard creation that serve as enterprise standard and best in class resource.

    •    7+ years in client business requirement gathering and documentation.

    •    3+ years of management experience with proven leadership abilities.

  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited school in information technology, healthcare, or related field.
  • Preferred Education: Post-graduate degree (MBA, MHA, JD, etc.) 

    Healthcare industry experience, particularly in Medicare Advantage and population health activities.

    Experience working with health plans and/or large physician groups or health systems.

  • Certifications: Epic or Mercy population health platform certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Other: 

    Ability to document business and technical requirements, data flow diagrams, SOPs, UAT and peer review test plans.

    •    Strong organization and delivery management skills to synchronize the efforts of multiple teams on a consolidated timeline.

    •    Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.

    •    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    •    Ability to build cross-departmental relationships.

    •    Ability to work cooperatively with peers and subordinates.

    •    Ability to act professionally under pressure.

    •    Deep knowledge of Medicare, Commercial, and Medicaid value-based programs.

    •    Expert proficiency with SQL, Excel and Visio.

    •    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
