Description

The individual in this position serves as the Telehealth Technology Coordinator for MedStar Health. The Telehealth Technology Coordinator (TTC) supports the efficiency, ease of use and reliability of telehealth and other connected care programs that occur in or originate from a MedStar Health facility. The TTC will bring telehealth devices to a patient's bedside and facilitates activities such as: teleconsultation with remote providers, remote rounding, family video visits with or without the care team, virtual interpreting services, remote patient monitoring enrollments and all other applicable current & future in-house telehealth related initiatives. TTC's also work with Information Services to track, troubleshoot, manage, and maintain telehealth devices, ensuring optimal patient & staff experience. These functions are performed in accordance with MedStar Health's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required or
  • Associate's degree preferred
Experience
  • 1-2 years experience in a clinical and/or customer service setting required and
  • Experience with EHR systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for effective communication with stakeholders (Providers, Nursing, Patients, Leaders). Strong critical thinking, organizational skills, accountability/ownership, and assertiveness. Ability to effectively multi-task and work under strict deadlines. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Comfortable working in a clinical setting and being exposed to high-risk conversations. Tech savvy, and proficient in MS Office applications, including, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Responsible for facilitating care virtually by connecting requestors with the patient in-house via telehealth device & platform. Facilitates activities such as: teleconsultation with remote providers, remote rounding, family video visits with or without the care team, virtual interpreting services, remote patient monitoring enrollments and all other applicable current & future in-house telehealth related initiatives.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and care team members, both local and remote, to ensure efficient quality service. Explains the methods of communication used to connect patient, care team, and family members. Reviews general telehealth consent.
  • Responsible for successful and timely follow up with stakeholders including the Telehealth Operations Support Center (TOSC) and clinical teams.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of logging activity and documentation, and completion of other assigned administrative duties.
  • Responsible for cleaning telehealth devices using infection prevention protocol. Utilize device management systems to maintain and locate devices. Troubleshoot platform related issues. In collaboration with Information Systems and Nursing Informatics teams, responsible to manage and maintain devices.
  • Maintains knowledge of current best practices and industry standards in IS Security, telecommunications, and customer service excellence.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and business unit in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
