General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Team Leader Peer Recovery Coach to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital!

 

A Team Leader Peer Recovery Coach builds a professional relationship with the Peer Recovery Coaches (PRC), empowering them to be successful in their role. This includes providing guidance and direction around topics such as boundaries, self-care, time management, professionalism, and ethics. The Team Lead should be regularly available and able to provide support at scheduled and non-scheduled times as needed by the PRC. The Team Lead meets regularly with the SBIRT team and Supervisor to assess program success, challenges, and maintains relationships with community treatment providers and resources.

Primary Duties: 

·       Assists the Supervisor in monitoring performance issues, providing feedback for evaluations, mentoring staff, facilitating onboarding for new Peer Recovery Coaches, and helping to create professional development plans and work schedules.

·       Supports patients in accessing substance abuse services and medical care, helps overcome barriers to care, educates on appropriate use of healthcare systems, and empowers patients to engage in self-care and chronic condition management.

·       Ensures adherence to protocols, assists with chart reviews and audits, tracks and reports program data, and helps identify training needs and performance improvement opportunities.

·       Acts as a liaison between individuals, healthcare teams, and community organizations; supports integration of Peer Recovery Coaches into hospital teams; and maintains strong relationships with treatment providers and community resources.

·       Participates in SBIRT team meetings and committees, represents the department in community outreach, and contributes to service improvement efforts through feedback and consultation on program success and challenges.

 

Qualifications: 

·       High School Diploma (Required)

·       Residency within the target population (Preferred)

·       1-2 years as a peer recovery Coach (Required)

·       Actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of three years demonstrated personal recovery in sustained abstinence from alcohol and/or drug use with no relapses. (Required)

·       Personal knowledge of the target population as shown by residency in that neighborhood. Outreach methods and strategies. Understanding of ethics and confidentiality issues. (Required)

·       Cert Peer Recovery Specialist-CPRS (Required)


This position has a hiring range of $22.04 - $38.41
