Description
Performs a variety of technical duties to assist with surgery. Provides expert services in at least one specialty area. Assists with precepting of staff and students.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required and
- graduation from a school of surgical technology or hospital-based program required
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
- 1-2 years Surgical technologist experience required
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
- Must maintain 6 Continuing Education Credits per year. within 180 Days required and
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. and
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred
- Competency in case procedure, preparation and completion in all services.
- Expert in at least one specialty surgical service.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
