MedStar Health is looking for a Senior Radiology Technologist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center!

The Senior Radiology Technologist will assist the Radiology Supervisor in overseeing and directing the work of subordinate personnel engaged in operating conventional fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment to obtain radiographs of designated body areas according to physicians' specifications.

Primary Duties: 

  • Functions as senior resource/team leader and coordinates ongoing workflow and activities of staff level technologists. Reviews and makes recommendations for revision of policies, procedures, and/or regulations. Distributes and/or implements changes and revisions, as necessary.  

  • Prepares patient for radiograph. Lifts or assists patients onto and off examination table. Positions patient for exams, adjusts immobilization devices and affixes appropriate radiation shielding. Assists in the administration of drugs. Administers or assists in the administration of contrast agents. Serves as resource to radiology students.  

  • Reviews radiographs taken by radiologic technologists to ensure diagnostic quality and provides technical advice on improving film quality. Maintains quality control of films taken by staff and students, including the verification of patient data and orders. Performs complex radiologic procedures in addition to regular duties of radiologic technologist. Processes and develops films.  

  • Conducts follow-up on errors, i.e., incorrect data entry, patient information, or labeling. May serve as educational resource and/or coordinate student/staff instruction. Participates in quality assurance activities and provides liaison support between physicians, technical staff, and department management.  

  • Collects technical factors to develop and maintain technique charts. Assumes clerical duties including the scheduling of patient examinations as required. Enters data into Radiology Information System (MARS) for medical records, billing, statistics, and quality assurance purposes. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree in Applied Science. 

  • 4-6 months of job-related experience. 

  • Must have passed American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination and be ARRT certified. 

 

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $59.26
