General Summary of Position
The Senior Data Analyst Operations is responsible for entity data collection, data management, analysis and dissemination of data. Identifies relevant clinical and operational process measures from which to assess outcomes. Researches current findings of current and best practice and identify internal application of or divergence from these practices. Serves as internal consultant to the Operations leadership, executive staff, senior managers and clinical chairs in the selection, analysis and use of benchmarking and outcome measures and the identification of research opportunities.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains direct oversight of operations and support services information production, data analytics, and financial management Conducts deep dive assessments, observations of workflow, and interviews with appropriate stakeholders to formulate assessments of processes for improvement and optimization.
  • Serves as an expert in analyzing process and outcome data. Incorporates statistical techniques to summarize outcomes and benchmark findings. Independently interprets and reports data to support both operational and business organizational planning and decision making. Leads functions of analytic support to various departments within Operations. Serves as an expert in MedStar Database reports and methodology.
  • Demonstrates expertise in knowledge the various data sources currently available at the entity and system level (MedConnect, Medstar MAP, SafetyNet, Symplr, Tableau, Hyperion etc). Manages ad hoc requests for data abstraction, analysis and reporting for projects at MWHC.
  • Serves as an expert in data reports and visualization in meetings, documents, dashboards and other data tools.
  • Maintains data security in accordance with industry and Medical Center standards. Identifies systematic issues with data integrity, develops and proposes solutions, collaborates with entity and system resources to resolve the issues.
  • Manages analysis of enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence systems to identify use case and data mapping opportunities for use at the entity level and system
  • Ensures integrity of data reports developed by the Quality and Outcomes Department before distribution to customers.
  • Provides training on data sources, entity and system databases, data analytics, and data visualization as requested by leadership
  • Supports division leadership with data analytics, project management activities, operational performance assessments, process improvement activities, contract pricing review, staffing analysis, purchased/professional services fee structure management, capital management, monthly financial variance tracking, financial reviews, productivity measurement, and maintenance of division position control reports.
  • Collaborates with the Quality and Safety department and clinical experts on clinical research projects aimed at clinical improvement and, when indicated, submission of papers, abstracts, and other relevant opportunities.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Two years of College completed required
    • Certification in Data Analytics, Data Science or relevant field of study required
    • 6 years relevant experience may be used in lieu of the college requirement.

    Experience

    • 3-4 years relevant experience required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Independent with data collection, management analysis and interpretation, particularly in health-related field including experience with database development and maintenance
    • Independent in SQL,STATA, SPSS or SAS or similar programming language, Business intelligence application(s)
    • Tableau Desktop or other data visualization software
    • Quality assurance or performance improvement process training and experience
    • Knowledge of medical terminology
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
