MedStar Health is looking for a Senior Project Manager VBC Analytics to join our team!  

 

The Senior Project Manager for Value Based Care Analytics oversees project management for business and data analysis, analytics, and reporting for a payer-provider partnership. In close partnership with the payer partner, the Senior Project Manager will design and develop reporting dashboards that leverage multi-source payer and provider data to inform strategy, operations, and clinical initiatives. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for analyzing data to identify and/or evaluate interventions or program changes to improve quality, outcomes, and impact cost. Generates innovative ideas and solutions for increasing speed and accuracy of interventions utilizing analytic techniques. Responsible for data provisioning, quality assurance, database management and execution of ad hoc analysis, and advanced analytics and modeling. Responsible for accuracy, quality, and timeliness of data and analytics delivered by fulfilling a data steward role. Creates, maintains, and updates informatics architecture to ensure smooth integration amongst systems.

Primary Duties:  

 

  • Learns, understands, and becomes proficient in MedStar and external data sources and systems including electronic health record data, claims, CRISP, etc. Analyzes and interprets clinical, financial, and other source data using knowledge of healthcare claims. Utilizes appropriate data sources, definitions, and integration for analysis. Understands the limits of use for each data source and the differences between similar elements in different data sets. Performs quality assurance on all data repositories. 

  • Presents information for internal and external stakeholders. Using creative and adaptive thinking skills, creates a wide range of reports, briefs, presentations, and visualizations that are universally understandable to inform decision-making and support quality and safety related improvement projects. 

  • Oversees design, implementation, and production of reports and analytic projects; integration of various data sources; and infrastructure efforts. Prepares monthly and quarterly reports that are delivered promptly. Develops ad-hoc reports to answer business questions. Tracks metrics and develops analytics for quantitative analysis. Supports data management initiatives and processes for ongoing reporting. Responsible for undertaking high level data analysis and providing commentary. Integration of various data sources, along with problem identification and resolution regarding accessing, accumulating, and processing information from them.  

  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary staff and management to design, implement, and evaluate outcomes of improvement initiatives. Analyzes and presents results to cross-functional teams to help shape clinical and/or business initiatives. Identifies the most appropriate analytical models/methods for medical economics and conducts research on statistical methodology. Measures the impact of activity on key performance and quality metrics to optimize processes and forecast future outcomes. Ascertains insights from large datasets and generates appropriate communications and visual presentations. 

  • Leads and implements improvements, enhancements, updates, and modifications to administrative, clinical, and/or financial data that enhances overall business operations and effectiveness. Includes collecting, cleaning, and summarizing operational data for use by staff to drive decision making. Balances multiple tasks simultaneous, using independent judgments, conferring with leadership as appropriate. Able to assist staff or management. 

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, business administration, mathematics/statistics, or related field. 

  • 5-7 years' work experience in business or data analytics, data management and analysis, or business intelligence in managed care or healthcare organizations, preferably supporting population management programs or value-based care.  

  • Experience working with large databases, visualization tools, business intelligence tools, excel spreadsheets, and database applications. Demonstrated collaboration with leadership, data providers, and other stakeholders. familiarity with healthcare payment systems. 

  • Master's degree in analytical healthcare-related field preferred. 

  • Experience with ms excel, ms access, MS SQL, tableau databases preferred. 

 



This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
