Description

We are actively recruiting for an experienced pharmacy technician leader to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC in the role of Operations Manager, Pharmacy Technician. This position will primarily be responsible for pharmacy technicians, which includes but are not limited to, supervision, education and training of staff, and involvement in quality assessment and process improvement. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

This position is expected to develop, enhance, implement, and provide direction for pharmacy services and initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employee supervision, education and training of staff, residents, interns and students, provide leadership and service line development, involvement in quality assessment and process improvement, and serve as an administrative role model. This position is accountable for quality assessment and monitoring; process improvement and ongoing monitoring, maintenance of practice standards, compliance with accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, this position is expected to coordinate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure operational efficiency that will have positive impact on patient outcomes.


Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
Experience
  • 5-7 years Management experience in a health care setting required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and independent judgment skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Advanced computer skills and supervisor experience required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Adheres to regulatory guidelines in patient care, administration, human resources, and billing. Oversees regulations associated with the Board of Pharmacy, Department of Health, HIPAA, OSHA, EEOC, FMLA and all other state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Assists with the creation of operational policies and procedures as they relate to the provision, improvement, and standardization of pharmacy services across the Pharmacy chain. Provides ongoing training as new policies or procedures are implemented or updates are made and monitors for compliance.
  • Assures the completion of all activities associated with payroll management including proper coding of time, maintenance of timecards, and identification and resolution of issues.
  • Determines cost effective equipment, supply, and service alternatives, coordinates with the hospitals for consistency of vendors, obtains quotes, and makes recommendations for purchases as needed.
  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established Department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
  • Ensures patients and guests have a superior experience, and that assigned sites achieve their patient experience goals. Role models service behaviors and develops those skills in the team. Performs service recovery, resolves conflicts, concerns, and complaints. Monitors patient experience surveys, communicates results, and implements action plans for improvement
  • Promotes high levels of associate engagement through associate recognition programs, fostering a strong sense of team, encouraging wellness activities, and investing in associate development.
  • Establishes and communicates the site staffing schedule with adequate advance notice for employees. Consistently modifies staffing levels to assure that the site is patient responsive but fiscally responsible. Adjusts staffing in accordance with fluctuating volume or associate callouts or absences.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees, and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manages day-to-day operations (24/7) of Inpatient Pharmacy ensuring a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and professional work environment. Redesigns and develops processes and programs for maximum safety and efficiency; problem-solves issues identifed by staff and internal/external customers. Oversight of technician and appropriately delegate responsibilities within the medication use system.
  • Manages the performance of assigned teams, sets individual goals, provides regular coaching and feedback, completes performance evaluations and corrective actions, creates improvement and / or development plans, and overall ensures that employees are performing at optimal levels.
  • Provides oversight of daily pharmacy operations, directs workflow patterns, ensures daily responsibilities are carried out by assigned staff, monitors, and manages productivity, maintain appropriate and adequate inventory, and resolves issues requiring management intervention.
  • Responsible for the selection, onboarding, training, supervision, and integration with the team for new associates, ensuring successful completion of 90-day probationary periods.
