 MedStar Health is looking for an Operations Manager Imaging Services to join our team at Southern Maryland!

As an Operations Manager Imaging Services, you will be responsible for the coordination and direction of personnel to include the following: radiology, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine. Evaluates accuracy of diagnostic images and demonstrates proper technique and procedures. Provides clinical oversight and administrative management. Assists in the operational maintenance of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and the Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS). Ensures the accuracy of information contained in MedConnect, RIS, and PACS. Trains designees to assist in data backup and recovery during and after system outages. Performs audits to ensure data is routed promptly and assesses its integrity. Promotes a culture of excellence to ensure that Imaging Services provide exceptional service. Generates management reports from the HIS, RIS, and other systems as needed. Incorporates all the duties of Supervisor in the absence of such position. Establishes technical standards and objectives for the imaging services and coordinates to provide maximum levels of service to patients and staff.

Primary Duties: 

  • Manages daily operations for all modalities within the department to ensure safe practices within diagnostic imaging. Assists in the management of the image archive and provides oversight for the quality and format of all images reprinted to film, CD, or other storage media. Collects data regarding anticipated personnel, supply, and equipment needs to contribute to the development of Imaging policies, procedures, and operating budgets. Monitors the use of supplies.  

  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations. Directs quality assurance activities and provides liaison support between physicians, technical staff, and department management. Ensures that departmental operations are conducted safely and contacts hospital or outside repair personnel, as necessary.  

  • Establishes work schedules and staff assignments to ensure 24 x 7 coverage. Has a thorough understanding of daily operations and workflow. Communicates problems and develops viable solutions. Makes recommendations to improve department operations. Maintains knowledge of the imaging field and state-of-the-art technology through reading appropriate literature and attending conferences and seminars. Hires, trains, evaluates, and develops subordinate staff in accordance with defined policies and objectives. Sets standards for the conduct of work and required performance and ensures compliance with such standards.  

  • Monitors data regarding the productivity and performance of staff. Reports findings at relevant departmental meetings and initiates corrective action(s) as needed. Participates in the evaluation and recommendation for the purchase of capital equipment. Performs duties of subordinate support or technical personnel in response to staffing or workload demands. Trains all personnel, technologists, and clerical staff to complete required functions in the HIS, MedConnect, RIS, PACS, and any other system used in concordance with their work. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree. 

  • 5-7 years' experience in all facets of diagnostics. 

  • ARRT Radiography Certification. 

  • 1-2 years' supervisory experience preferred.
