Description

Responsible for providing Occupational Health information and guidance to MedStar associates through the remote OHCC. Communicates and provides current and accurate information to associates as identified in clinical guidance and resources provided. Requires the ability to utilize technical telecom and computer software to effectively perform the role. Ability to multitask and navigate multiple sources of electronic medical record and reports to effectively provide information to associates. Ability to communicate and consult with managers and assistant managers when complex issues arise. Displays strong skills in listening, caring communication, problem solving, and teamwork.
Education

  • Completion of required education for clinical field required and
  • Associate's degree required and
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience
  • 3-4 years clinical experience required and
  • Previous clinical call center experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner - Licensed Upon Hire required or
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Upon Hire required or
  • PT - Physical Therapist Upon Hire required or
  • Health Services\OT - Occupational Therapist - Registered Upon Hire required or
  • ST - Speech Therapist Upon Hire required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills required. Strong clinical and decision-making skills. Organization, time management skills and ability to multitask and maintain efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced telecommunication environment. Must demonstrate superb customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations. Clinician will establish and maintain all items needed to provide a successful screening of associates in applicable systems and as defined in clinical protocols including OpenScape phone system, MedConnect, OHM, etc and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • OHCC Clinician will consult with OHCC managers as needed for proper guidance.
  • Clinician will document all OHCC calls as instructed by the OHCC managers.
  • Clinician will transfer calls to the proper Occupational Health office as appropriate.
  • Clinician will be expected to review any clinical, operational or business updates that are communicated from clinical leadership. A regular cadence of updates has been established and will continue to be issued.
  • Clinician will be expected to utilize the provider resources that are available and regularly updated to understand processes and clinical updates.
  • Clinician will begin the shift at the designated time ready to answer calls.
  • Clinician will screen associates to determine the need for testing, quarantine or monitoring for symptoms while providing detailed explanation of the plan to the associate.
  • Clinician will provide associates with proper education and guidance to maximize safety and reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19.
  • Clinician will, in a timely manner, document screening with recommendations and all necessary communication with associate's managers regarding work status.
  • Clinician will complete the screening, providing the associate with all relevant information for testing, quarantine, and safety.
  • Clinician will recognize clinical circumstances requiring referral to occupational health, evisit, or emergency department.
  • Once trained, clinician will perform any additional projects or duties as requested by OHCC managers and asks questions as needed.
  • Occupational Health Call Center vary with the current needs and therefore clinicians may be required to contribute evening/night hours, weekends, and holidays. Position may require rotation of evening and weekend work as well as day time hours.
  • Act as centralized support line for Occupational Health with other non-Covid related duties and responsibilities including vaccination compliance, return to work, pre-placement, all other necessary compliance, needle stick management, work injury triage, onboarding projects, records requests, general occupational health information, and other projects as needed.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and business unit in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
