Description
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Division of Hematology Oncology is seeking a qualified nurse practitioner to join our well-established Blood & Marrow Collection Program at Washington, DC at 3800 Reservoir Road NW. This position is full-time (1.0FTE) and will include a combination of inpatient and outpatient coverage during (4) 10hr weekdays. This position will also include on-call coverage after-hours and weekends, every other week. Only Nurse Practitioners will be considered at this time.
Our Blood & Marrow Collection Program oversees the collection of over 60% of the nation's unrelated bone marrow donations and 10% of the global total, ensuring exceptional quality and patient satisfaction. We see a combination of both allogeneic and autologous patients in the clinic for evaluation to determine suitability for collection by bone marrow harvest or leukapheresis collection. The incoming nurse practitioner will work together with a highly specialized team of physicians and advanced practice providers.
Our team of nurse practitioners serves as the primary ordering providers for apheresis collections and play a key role in supporting most of the bone marrow collections. The NPs perform the patient evaluations done in the clinic, including both donors donating at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) and third-party patient evaluations for donors donating at other apheresis/collection centers in the network. Our NPs provide pre-procedure consultation with donors and discharge information for both apheresis and marrow, and coordinate with the Bone Marrow Transplant program in the management and care of autologous and related patients and donors.
