As a member of the Division of Nursing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient care in this specialized field.

 

Position Overview

The Nurse Educator acts as a clinical consultant and resource while closely collaborating with Nursing leaders, clinical specialists, physicians, preceptors, nursing staff, students, and external agencies. In this pivotal role, you will design and implement orientation and career advancement programs, lead research initiatives to enhance clinical practices, foster effective relationships across departments and institutions, utilize advanced teaching methods to educate and mentor individuals and groups, and oversee educational and quality improvement programs for our dedicated staff and students. At MedStar NRH you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of experts, including rehabilitation medicine specialists, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation nurses, and others to design treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. This collaborative approach in a hospital setting allows us to provide complex care to help improve immediate recovery and long-term outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrates the clinical expertise, leadership, management, communication skills and knowledge of adult learning theory and principles necessary to develop education programs and achieve optimal educational outcomes.

Participates as staff development/education expert on committees, task forces, focus groups and projects to support Department of Nursing and MedStar Nursing Council initiatives.

Facilitates team building within nursing division and organization and assists nurse management staff in initiating and adapting to change.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing and master's degree in nursing, Health Care or related field required.

Active DC RN License

3-4 years of progressively more responsible job-related nursing in acute care

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
