General Summary of Position

Join our team as a Mohs/Dermpath Grossing Technologist with MedStar Health!  In this role you will be responsible for the gross description, dissection, and histologic processing of Mohs and other dermatologic specimens.  Additional responsibilities involve ensuring quality assurance and regulatory compliance of the laboratory.  

This role is split between two locations- MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC and MedStar Dermatology in Chevy Chase.  The anticipated schedule will be Monday and Wednesday at the Mohs Laboratory at MedStar Dermatology at Chevy Chase (and rarely a third day) from 7:30am to 4pm, sometimes requiring a later end time.  Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, this role will be located at the Dermatopathology Laboratory at MedStar Washington Hospital Center from 9am to 5:30pm, often ending earlier.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Biological or Chemical Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science required

Experience

• 1-2 years Histology required or
• 1-2 years Gross examination required and
• 1-2 years Leadership experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist HTL or HT preferred or ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist MLS or MLT preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Embedding
• Microtomy
• Cryostat operation
• Grossing
• Manual staining techniques
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environment
• Interpersonal communication skills


This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52
