Job Summary: 

 
MedStar Health has an opportunity for a Lead Cashier to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The incumbent in this position serves as the primary support for Hospital Cashier who accepts and records payments for services, supplies and other Hospital related activities and disburses cash with proper and acceptable authorization. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. 

 
Primary Duties: 

 

  • The primary support for Hospital Cashier with responsibilities including (accepting and tracking deposits, coordinating armored car pick-up, requesting change fund from Bank of America, disbursing cash and making change within MGUH guidelines, routing receipts with supporting attachments for posting, and preparing and reconciling daily receipt log summary to deposit. 

  • Monitors charge submission and depositing to ensure daily submission. Notifies senior and department leadership of the revenue capture failure if nothing has been submitted for any given day. 

  • Oversees/supervises Hospital Cashier and the replacement team. 

  • Disburses cash with proper and acceptable authorization. 

  • Routes receipts with proper supporting attachments to the respective person and/or department. 

  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred 

  • 3-4 years' experience in a related financial services field required. 

  • Accurate computational abilities. 

  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • The ability to change stressful encounters into amicable resolutions.
