General Summary of Position
Responsible for working with the VP of Security and hospital leaders to maintain the security program designed to enhance the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors and the facility. Administrative responsibility and accountability for strategic direction and the operational, personnel and financial activities of the security department. Serves as a liaison with outside law enforcement agencies. Must obtain and maintain a connection to corporate security leadership and State of Maryland and/or District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department Special Police Officer commission to carry out duties associated with crime control and response, designated as an Unarmed Security Officer, assigned and deployed within the hospital consistent with the limitations of the Unarmed SPO commission from Maryland State Police.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field required
- Master's degree preferred
Experience
- 10+ years Progressively more responsible job-related security or law enforcement experience. required and
- 5-7 years Prior supervisory experience required and
- Experience in healthcare, university, and/or hospitality setting (patient-first, customer-first environment). required
Licenses and Certifications
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State (DRLIC) Valid driver's license required and
- MD Special Police Commission - MDSPC Commissioned as a Special Police Officer by the State of Maryland State Police and/or District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department within 6 months of hire required and
- Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator - CHPA CHPA Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator preferred and
- Certified Protection Professional - CPP) Certified Protection Professional (CPP) - Board Certified in Security Management preferred and
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
- Must successfully complete all MedStar initial training related to violence prevention, de-escalation and crisis prevention intervention required

- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with coaching and developing a high performing security team.
- Ability to remain calm and thoughtful during a crisis.
- Ability to assist in de-escalating situations with strong emotions and conflict.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $93,142 - $175,968
