Float Pool Director of Nursing (DON) Job Overview
The Float Pool Director of Nursing is a member of MedStar Health entity-based Division of Nursing's (DON) leadership/management team and is responsible for over 110 staff to include Float Pool Nurses, Float Pool CNAs, Unit Secretaries, Clinical Coordinators, Sitters and Nursing Clinical Supervisors at newly magnet certified MedStar Harbor Hospital. The Float DON will also function as a Clinical Administrator as needed.

About MedStar Harbor Hospital
MedStar Harbor Hospital is a private nonprofit, 130+ bed, acute care teaching hospital. Its areas of specialty include general surgery, orthopaedics, oncology, women and infants' services, emergency medicine, internal medicine, behavioral health. Harbor Hospital also offers a medical residency program in internal medicine and a transitional program that prepares residents to specialize in other areas. Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a Nationally accredited program required; Master's degree in Nursing or health related field from a Nationally accredited program preferred
- 4 years of nursing experience required; 2 years of management and leadership experience strongly preferred (such as an ADON, Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Nurse Manager, Team Lead), particularly in an acute care setting
- RN-Registered Nurse-State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required upon hire; specialty certification from a nationally recognized nursing organization in either a clinical specialty or Nursing Administration preferred or must be obtained within two years of hire; BLS-Basic Life Support for healthcare professionals required upon hire
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment on highly complex situations; Verbal and written communication skills; Basic knowledge of various computer software applications and online learning applications, especially Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
