MedStar Health is looking for a Crisis Intervention Clinical Coordinator to join our team at MedStar Harbor Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to provide therapeutic interventions and make independent clinical decisions. 

As a Crisis Intervention Clinical Coordinator, you will supervise and coordinate the delivery of administrative and clinical services for Access and Crisis Intervention Services. Leads, coaches, and develops staff while also providing direct patient care.

Primary Duties: 

  • Develops department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations. Recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget. Develops, implements, and monitors new services and programs. Promotes and markets services to identified audiences. Works collaboratively as liaison to other service line and departmental clinical service areas, hospital departments, associated entities, and/or contracted service providers to problem solve, program plan, and/or improve operational efficiency. 

  • Participates in the management of aggressive patients as needed to ensure safety of patient, self, and others. Recognizes early warning signs of escalating behaviors and intervenes as appropriate. Provides clinical assessment, evaluation, and dispositions for persons with behavioral health concerns or illness presenting in the Emergency Department. Determines standard mental health services required and plans for delivery of services. Serves as liaison to referral sources, outside agencies, third-party payors, and other interested parties as appropriate and within limits of confidentiality. Ensures the insurance recorded on the assessment form is the mental health carve out. 

  • Selects, trains, orients, and supervises ACIS staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information. 

  • Supervises daily operations and clinical functions of assigned service area to include timely maintenance and preparation of patient records, files, and other documents. 

  • Takes measures to ensure collaboration between Crisis Intervention, Emergency Department, psychiatric inpatient partial hospitalization and outpatient services to provide timely treatment of patients waiting for crisis intervention services. Maintains effective working relationships and participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or related field. 

  • 3-4 years' supervisory experience in the provision of clinical services, preferably in an acute care emergency setting. 

  • Licensure in the State of Maryland as required by discipline.
