Job Summary: 

MedStar Health is currently seeking a staff psychologist for our Department of Psychiatry at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital to provide school-based delivery of mental health care and consultation on whole-school approaches for mental wellness.  

As a Clinician Instructor, you will provide classroom-based observations, teacher feedback, and real-time behavioral coaching and modeling for teachers as well as craft and communicate customized written recommendations to school leaders, mental health staff, and classroom teachers based on clinical analysis and needs assessment.

Primary Duties: 

  • Construct and deliver professional development trainings as requested. Meet regularly with school leaders to provide school wide behavioral consultation. Meet weekly with a team of school staff to build capacity for ongoing teacher/classroom coaching and support the delivery of school-wide teacher wellness initiatives. 

  • Serve as site point person for management of clinical services, including regular communication with MGUH's school based Clinical Coordinator to ensure Tier 3 students' clinical needs are met.  

  • In collaboration with a licensed psychologist, provide weekly supervision to MGUH's externs including periodic shadowing and consulting as well as weekly individual supervision for at least one hour per week. Conduct annual performance evaluations of externs to whom direct supervision is given.  

  • Oversee the on-site implementation of data collection protocols and communicate results as relevant to school teams. Provide written summaries of progress in delivering programs to school partners. 

  • Assist schools with referrals for community mental health support as relevant. Build and refine clinical and community referral network to support students' clinical needs.  


Qualifications:  

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology OR an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Completion of Clinical Internship  

  • APA Accredited Clinical Internship preferred 

  • Consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience 

  • 3 – 4 years' experience working with children or adolescents 

  • 1 – 2 years' experience working with school systems and student extern supervision experience preferred 

 

This position has a hiring range of $56.25 - $63.17
