MedStar Health is looking for a Clinical Access Medical Assistant to join our team at MedStar Ambulatory Services!
Under General Supervision, the Clinical Access Medical Assistant acts as the first welcome at a site for the caller on behalf of MedStar Health, instilling loyalty and anticipating needs, while providing efficient, effective customer relationship management. The role involves eliciting and recording patient information and inquiries by following established protocols for the Lab Call Back program and scheduling patient appointments for designated practice groups or multiple locations while facilitating communication between patients and practice site staff.

Primary Duties:
Contributes to departmental objectives while adhering to policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Handles inbound and outbound calls, assesses caller needs, facilitates patient registration, and provides scheduling and lab result callbacks using standardized scripting.
Applies critical thinking to resolve issues, maintains alertness for urgent medical concerns, and promptly escalates as needed to ensure patient safety.
Utilizes MedStar Health systems to document interactions, track patient inquiries, and report workflow concerns while maintaining scheduling accuracy and knowledge of assigned specialties.
Engages in cross-training, staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and provider practice collaborations to enhance service and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant (MA) program.
1-2 year's experience at the technician level or the equivalent (required)
1-2 year's experience in a high-volume customer service industry position analyzing and resolving customer concerns from basic to complex in nature (required)
Telephonic customer service experience typically acquired in a call center role, front desk reception, hospital, or medical office scheduling environment (required)
