Unit Highlights
General Medicine/Telemetry and Behavioral Health Unit (C4-2) C4-2 is a 16-bed unit designed to provide specialized care for patients who need continuous cardiac monitoring, behavioral health, and complex medical nursing care. Nurses on this unit provide care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare requirements. Our entire staff is committed to the MedStar Georgetown mission of cura personalis, or caring for the whole person. The Med/Tele nurses are supported with educational and specialty certification training opportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support empowers these nurses to become active and respected participants within the inter-professional team that provides evidence based, compassionate care to our patients. Representatives from this unit also led the implementation of the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Program. After a pilot on our two medical units, it was expanded throughout the Division of Nursing and achieved Exemplar Status. The unit utilizes a blended model of care, which encompasses a team-based perspective and treatment approach using nurses, patient care technicians and a virtual nurse. The model is to ensure each team member is collaboratively performing the fullest extent of their scope of care.
