General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

Provides advanced level technical and operational support on medical equipment and systems. Demonstrates ability to independently learn and to assume progressive responsibility to work independently. Performs quality assurance testing, preventive maintenance, calibrations, repairs and electrical safety inspections on equipment and systems included in the BME equipment management program at WHC and contracted accounts.

 

Primary Duties:

  •  Troubleshoots and repairs equipment systems to component or sub-assembly level to ensure proper operation. Documents all activities in accordance with department's policies, procedures or practices.
  •  Develops, documents and performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance, and performance testing procedures on a wide range of medical equipment and devices used in the patient care environment.  Interprets test results for compliance with specifications, safety, and accurate performance.
  •  Works with clinical personnel in the units on the utilization and interpretation of Biomedical related signals, including identifying the sources of error and corrective actions to be taken.
  •  Provides "on-call" technical assistance when required in order to verify equipment malfunctions and to provide off hours' emergency service. Assumes on call responsibilities when assigned.
  •  Aids in the design, development, and implementation of special purpose electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, or pneumatic devices as required.
  •  Trains other staff members as needed.  Serves as team leader on projects and equipment installations and supervises other BME staff while at shared services accounts or as assigned.
  •  Works with equipment manufacturers and vendors in the acquisition, installation and maintenance of medical equipment systems, evaluates equipment service needs, makes recommendations, and assists in developing procedures.
  •  Assumes additional duties and responsibilities in maintaining all of the Hospital's existing and newly purchased medical equipment and devices.

 

 Qualifications:

  •  Associate's degree in biomedical or Electronics Technology required, or 1-3 years formal training is required
  •  3-4 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience required
  •  CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician or eligibility required



This position has a hiring range of $30.67 - $51.64
