MedStar Health is looking for an Angiography Technologist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital!
As an Angiography Technologist, you will perform neuro and vascular interventional examinations in accordance with established protocols, as directed by the attending radiologist. Primary Duties:
Adheres to the policies and procedures that apply to the performance of obtaining radiographic studies, including performing correct, exam, including laterality, on correct patient at the time requested. Prepares exam rooms, assuring that all equipment and supplies are available prior to beginning each case. Performs imaging sequences, digital in accordance with prescribed protocols utilizing the correct exposure techniques, interimage delays, contrast flow rates and patient I.D. markers in accordance with the policies on Universal Precautions, safety, and waste disposal.
Assists in coordinating patient flow for the IR Lab with the Board Runner to maximize productivity and limit the patient wait before, during and after the procedure. Coordinates and collaborates with Technical Aides to ensure efficient room turnover.
Coordinates, communicates, and collaborates with Patient Financial Associates that register radiology exams to minimize delays and potential safety issues for the outpatient population Reviews billing codes to be utilized for each procedure with the Radiologist immediately after each case to ensure concurrence between the hospital and professional fees. Ensures timely completion of all exams through tracking, scanning and other technical workflow as related to Radiology Information System (RIS, Enterprise Radiology Solutions (ERS) and EMR (Electronic Medical Record).
Provides basic information to patients and/or families about procedures to be performed and can answer questions if asked. Assists with the upkeep of interventional radiology equipment, adheres to all related safety requirements and reports need for equipment repairs.
Cleans equipment and work area, wipes down assigned equipment between cases and stocks and maintains supplies at identified inventory levels. Assists the technical supervisor in the revision, development and implementation of lab policies, in-service programs and continuing educational programs that enhance the individual technologist's performance, and skills.
Qualifications:
Vocational/Technical Diploma from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Associate of Science in Radiologic Science; candidates must also demonstrate competency in didactic coursework and an ARRT-specified list of clinical procedures by completing competency requirements established for the discipline in which they are seeking certification and registration.
A minimum of six months hands-on training, and prior clinical experience.
ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology).
BLS (Basic Life Support).
Cardiac Interventional Certification in Vascular Interventional (VI), Cardiac-Interventional (CI), or CVT (Certified Vascular Technologist) must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
Current experience in interventional angiography preferred.
