General Summary of Position
The individual in this position serves as Operations Administrator. Plans, directs, and manages the departmental service line with oversight of fiscal and operational performance. Has administrative responsibility and accountability for the management of the practice, managed care policies and practices, practice development, and oversight of budgets and associated accounts, including supervising and assisting in the development of appropriate practice development and revenue accounting reporting systems. This position works closely with, as well as under the direction of the Director of Administrative Operations, in strategic planning, financial and business analytics, administrative workflow optimization and management of growth projects. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for personnel management of the staff who support the unit and patient care (outpatient and inpatient), both on and off-campus to include, but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, promoting, and terminating employees.
  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates specific functions associated with clinical activities , including materials management, maintenance, support services, telecommunications, information systems, etc.
  • Analyzes current operations, and develops/recommends, and implements plans as appropriate to reorganize clinical configurations in order to increase patient satisfaction, efficiency, utilization of support staff, and productivity of faculty.
  • Recommends clinic facility improvements including construction, renovation, and purchase of equipment. Prepares financial analyses as needed to support return on investment for capital equipment and construction projects to Service Li
  • Assists the Regional Chief, Director, and Service Line Director in the development, adherence, and timely completion of budgets. Collaborates with Department Administration, GUH Finance, PUBS and Hospital personnel and others.
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of collaborative clinical research studies, ensuring that costs are appropriately allocated to grant funds.
  • Maintains a cost-accounting and cost-allocation system for distribution of costs to the Department and programs utilizing shared resources. Administers plan and develops appropriate reporting mechanisms.
  • Oversees revenue cycle activity in department. Identifies any deficiencies in accounts receivable management, compliance with coding guidelines, and front end operational tasks such as scheduling and registration and implements operational changes as needed to maximize reimbursement and volumes

  • Develops and implements appropriate computer systems to capture and analyze revenue and expense utilization.
  • Assists, as needed, in the development of consistent policies and procedures for the ambulatory activities in the main hospital clinic, and the satellite facilities within the Department. Ensures adherence to those policies and procedures by the Department staff.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Health required or
    • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Health preferred

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Experience preferably in a large physician practice or academic medical center. required


    This position has a hiring range of $70,428 - $131,310
